Facebook Inc, the social network giant is up and ready for a mammoth $96 billion initial public offering (IPO). The IPO will see Facebook hitting the US stock markets soon. While the world’s leading social networking website prepares itself for a strenuous task ahead, we’ve compiled some amazing facts about the organization just for you.

DID YOU KNOW
•	Facebook has 900 million active users. And if it were a country it would rank as the third largest in world population, behind only China (1.34 billion) and India (1.17 billion).

•	Unites States leads the rat- race with most Facebook users and the number stands at 157 million. India ranks second with 45.9 million users followed by Brazil with 45.3 million, Indonesia with 42.4 million and Mexico with 32.9 million.

•	The only country to ban Facebook is Syria. They say it is against the promotion of their religion and war campaign.

•	Except for China, Japan, Russia, South Korea and Vietnam, Facebook is crowned as the world’s most popular social network.

•	Facebook currently has 3,500 employees throughout the world and it plans to add thousands more to strengthen its workforce in the near future.

•	The most popular Facebook page is indisputably its very own page that is followed by 60.2 million fans. It is followed by Texas HoldEm page with 56.6 million fans, an Eninem page with 52 million fans, a YouTube page with 51.3 million fans and a Rihanna page with 50.3 million fans.

•	Psychologists in the US have credited a disease to Facebook and its called FAD (Facebook Addiction Disorder). It is said that about 350 million people suffer from this disorder which causes a flutter in their lives due to their wild activities on the site.

•	Facebook does not accept strange names like Lebeo’ or Allien. Such account will be deleted at its own discretion.

•	Facebook won’t accept breastfeeding pictures and mothers who upload such pictures inevitably have their accounts deleted.

•	About 85% of Facebook users are collegians and 70% of them log in to the website every day.

•	It is estimated that more than 30 million users update their Facebook statuses at least once a day.

•	One in every 13 people has an account with Facebook.
•	On an average a Facebook user has 130 friends. Though the list is usually larger than this number, most users interact regularly with not more than 4 to 7 people.

•	333,333,333 is the number of photos uploaded on Facebook every single day.

•	More than 60% of men and women have stalked their exes on Facebook as it allows you to follow anyone without the slightest risk of being caught!

•	Facebook has caused splitsville to more than 25% of its users.

•	A survey by American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers revealed Facebook leads to 1 in every 5 divorces in the US.

Irrespective of sharing a good or bad image Facebook continues to be loved by all and you being one of them. Right?

There have been many inputs from all across board on HR and other spaces. Every company has its own way of working and has circumstances in which they would need to live in in order to find the right candidate for their job.

Few things that are a must measure

Commitment: To some commitment comes naturally and can be traced in the history of work they have done. This can be accomplished by indication of prior work or a chance provided to them after a sudden situation that might have arisen personally. Commitment is highly necessary in today’s world, as most of candidates want the job to run their homes. Commitment comes within and the best way to know would be how they have been working in the past. So questions that arise the response to this should be asked. Commitment also revolves around initiation, self-motivation and strong work ethics. Most of them are related to candidates past history.

Workability: One of the most prominent things that are difficult to judge but during interview a pun of conversations can take place which could get a person to high and low aggressions to really test how the candidate performs and reacts. This would show you how they would work with you if a situation arises which would need their workability to actually deal with them. Sometimes a candidate can come across as easy to influence, which can govern some working decisions of a candidate. All of these are part of the workability of the candidate with your company.

Wavelength: If the wavelength of the candidate matches with the company the efficiency improves. Few of the things why they wish to join and what motivates them to a specific domain can assist you in knowing if they are on the same page as your organization is.

Background: To know what happened in the past gives a clear picture of how the candidate usually is. So a background check must be done at the time or after hiring to know if all is fine with the candidate. This should also be done at the personality matching level.

Required Skill set: This is usually not a breaker but match up of skill set is a process that needs to be clearly be defined on the job profile. Max match and correct match up are essential for filtering and processing and the right ones would show up for the job.

Understanding of the job and company: Job is a separate thing but understanding how the company works is the most important aspect. At times there are jobs a candidate would love to work on but is not inclined with the company way of working. The understanding of the company and how they run the entire process needs to be clearly defined at the level of selection.

Hope this helps you choose the right candidate for your job and assists the candidate of what the company might be looking for.

Recently Google launched Googledrive which is competition with Microsoft Skydrive, Dropbox and ApplieiCloud. Everyone is providing free storage to start off with and all are good to use. A good comparison is provided by engagenet.com which is worth noting before making a choice of going with one of them. Which would help you know which one to go for? If you were looking for collaboration of users to edit the file together online then Google drive, sky drive or Box would help you more. If you are looking for your own personal use and want to sync mails to calendar to contacts on your phone then could would work for Mac/iPhone users. If we are to consider privacy there are always concerns on privacy with them.

Now coming to a vision where we have too many drives and usage online. How would it work when you have to transfer a big chunk of files from one place to the other directly? There is no system as such all you have to do is downloading it and upload it again which is tedious. If you don’t wish to have public offering of a file and want to have a specific user access a file they would need to open an account with the drive you use and use it unless they leave it open to public for sharing.

The marketing is getting filled by opportunity that exists and other bigger players and whales just jump in as well to grab as much as they can. The choice is yours of what works for you. But the interoperability and usage of too many drives if you have them is difficult to manage unless you have managed to have them be for separate use.

Facebook after going with IPO, recently did an update on their comment section where they would have a complex algorithm to check if a content is appropriate or not. It is related to offensive, abusive, porn language content in your comment would show up a popup like this.

One good example that is going round is by Robert Scoble trying to add a comment and has got 500+ Google plus.

This is not the only control that Facebook has. There have been reports disabling accounts and other measures taken by facebook on accounts, which do not adhere to their policy. Coming back to inappropriate content the most word that is going around is it being very subjective. Being subjective is always in the eyes of who thinks that are positive or negative, So far the platform that you are working on sets the rule of it being positive or negative. I would believe sooner or later we should see these changes on other social network as well. All I hope that this censorship goes well and allow real time users to flag items rather than being stopped on making an appropriate comment.

Web development and timelines of development have always been complicated. Doing the right things on time has always been difficult. We at IT Chimes have been processing and experiencing breakthrough in working around the complex and simple web development in time.

Some of the main things that we think would improve rapid development as well as other developments processes are:

Analysis: Everyone knows the story here but there is not ever a point-to-point analysis is complete and covers everything. There are various documents all across the web on how to do this and how to achieve it. But I think it’s still one of the most difficult things to do in development. Analysis is not fully equipped that is for sure but it needs more than intelligence for a right candidate to do so. The candidate who knows about system and how they work with other systems is always beneficial; this provides analysis near or full to scope. The wisdom from these candidates provides up scaling and downscaling of the project of where it is and where it needs to go. This also counter measures if any situation or issues that can arise because of the project development.

Best bet would be to have a wise man do the analysis to begin the project

Requirements: This is easy part once the analysis is done correctly the list can be made and checked and signed by the client. The client needs to sign off the list so that they have something to work around which is easier for them to understand and comprehend. This list needs to be fully be communicated to the design, development, testing, project manager, team leader etc. fully. All and everyone should be on the same page. The more detail the requirement is the better it is. The list should be actions that need to be taken for a module be completed.

So get the project requirement signed off and make sure it’s communicated to all levels of the team. List should consist of actions.

Allocation of requirement: What is needed from what if realized in the beginning is much better than realizing who is responsible in the end. For example if we know that the client needs to send us the payment gateway and we have a list of things as per the requirement. Then we should have this assigned to the client with time on when he should get back to us with response. All the requirement/list etc. are not great to work with if the allocation to the right responsible associate or time is done correctly. This process too needs to be done as step 3 and in the beginning where ever possible

Allocation of actions to the right people with time constraint of completion earlier before development

Design and architecture: The difficulty on this stage has been rare in developments. But this is one of the crucial stages and the only way to achieve maximum benefit on this is by getting approvals of all the designs/wire frames by clients and making sure the basic architecture of coding and standard is going to get maintained.

Approval of rounds of designs should be quick with clients

Ready for Coding: Before we begin the coding we need to be assured that the designs are ready and the developers working on the code don’t have to fall back and do anything that needs redone. All the specs/ lists/timelines/ requirements should be in the hands of the developer’s team. A standard should be made for the coding depending on framework, architecture that needs to be used. All the security measures should be considered at this stage as well.

Make sure the team knows the standard/ coding structure to follow throughout the coding period

Coding: This stage should not accept any changes as the timelines would be disturbed or get effected unless it is something that is realized in the middle of work which is crucial. The main focus should be keeping the standard of code to be consistent throughout. Which needs to be checked one every module is made and matched up with the spec and the list of requirements and actions made.

Checking coding to match up with business logic and list of actions, requirements and specification. To be done at every module stage so no rework is done.

Testing: Once a module is done a module should be functionally be tested. Once the project is completed with coding. Specific use cases should be ready for the testing team to start testing every use case possible. The analysis team to see if everything is covered should approve all the use cases/test cases. This can be done in the beginning stage as well. Testing should be done at module level then in the end with all possible scenario test cases.

Testing the modules and everything in the end and matching it up with the specs and requirement to double check everything is working. Finally doing the scenario and possible environments of stress of users different browsers operating system is necessary depending on the application being made.

Maintenance: Once the project is signed off this stage comes in. For the development team its essential to make sure that the maintenance agreement is clear of what is change what is addition to sustain the project.

Make sure agreements are made for every request there should be a valid change request and addition request form submitted by the client so everything is documented.

Rest assured there is not a perfect example, method and formation of any solution to gain 100 % effectiveness but the above has helped Our development company to achieve more effectiveness of what we use to have. In the end you might not hit the bulls eye in first go but it won’t happen on the 100th but rather the 10th, which too is helpful in this dynamic world.

Google has recently done an update on its search results and its all across the web. More google updates can be found out on its inside search blog. They have named this update as Penguin as per the news available on the web. Danny Sullivan one of the prominent persons in the SEO world spread the news around.

Black and white hat SEO has been in rounds where black and white are considered both techniques in some way or the other to work around or of against Google algorithm. I wonder if that is the sole reason for Google opting for these major updates and signifies them with the black/white animals. If they choose to go ahead with further updates should we expect Zebra, Orca, the White Tiger and may be everyone’s favorite skunk?

There are many more but whichever name Google uses they all cause a lot of problems for webmasters all over to re-strategize again. I believe some do help users in the long run but don’t believe the period to do so should be so quick when we had a release of an update in a year with loads of smaller / medium updates done.

These updates are somehow creating nuisance to a lot of webmasters who have been around and one of the examples of this being created is provided by Divya Fernando. A favorite example of search going bad is making money online and the example is clearly portrayed by Xristos Kostouros

I hope the next few updates on black and white make a relieving difference and make the changes appropriately with them and in time.

It is indeed hopelessly annoying to get a useless SMS in the midst of a crucial business meeting, personal date or a casual family outing. With the little time in hand you want to enjoy every moment making it special and freezing it in your cherished memory forever. A distracting telemarketing message is the last thing you expect while you are just about to seal a new chapter of your life.

Don’t let the mess bother you anymore. Blocking irritating messages laden with offers and advertisements was never as simple.

If you have been a victim of spam SMS at any point in your life, now is the time to bid adieu to it once and for all.

The first step towards blocking these unwanted messages is to register on DND (Do Not Disturb) list. You can register for the service by sending “Start 0” to 1909 or simply by calling on the number 1909. Registration process might take a few days.

The users of Android smartphones can install a free app titled SMS Blocker by Optinno. This app contains a filter which inevitably notices and blocks all spam SMS. If the messages don’t stop flowing in you can manually add the senders to a blocked “Blacklist.”

Don’t let these unwarranted messages ruin your mood and play spoilsport. Say goodbye to them, now!

The number of mobile internet users is growing exponentially. It is predicted that by the end of the year 2013 this number will swell to 1.7 billion. The mobile internet is the new thing. It therefore, is the time for online enterprises to gear up for the change and make their websites mobile friendly.

In the following part we tell you how to convert your ordinary website into mobile friendly:

Create appealing design

A mobile website should be alluring and rate high on design meter. The content should be well placed and not make it look too cramped. The design should make the visitor comfortable. A visually appealing mobile website entices the users to read on and even visit again for the information. Be soft on colors and white space.

Avoid using flash

Not every mobile device supports flash. Therefore, mobile websites should be designed simply to give the users a smooth browsing experience.

Use limited images

Too many images may distract the user and make their browsing experience uneasy. Besides, the little space available on the mobile screen images make it difficult to find related content. It is content and not images that fetch user traffic, hence a mobile website should contain limited images that fit well on the screen.

Create crispy content

Try to use the tiny mobile screen to your advantage by writing gripping headlines and crispy content. That helps catch reader’s attention and at the same time convey maximum information in a few words.

Install plugins

Plugins help transform a mobile website into user friendly. There are many plugins available and many are free. One thing that you must remember is to give your visitor the option to use the standard website.

Use these simple tips to give the users a wonderful time online with their mobiles featuring big or tiny screens.
