Samsung-Google Nexus 10-Finally a iPad 2 Killer?
iPad 2, which became one of the must-haves of tech crazies and professionals alike, has till now faced no real competition. Whatever other tablets came, mostly using Android except Blackberry Playbook, lacked in something or other to compete the last masterpiece of Steve Jobs. Google is planning to end this dominance by launching its Google Nexus 10 tablets, manufactured by Samsung, on 29th October in New York City.
Retina display, something which made iPad 2 incredibly aesthetic, has remained completely unchallenged till now. Lets calculate the DPI. iPad 2 has 2048 x 1536 pixels with a screen size of 9.7 inch diagonally which means a great visual of 264 DPI. Rumour says, Samsung-Google tablet, named as Codename Manta¸will have 2560*1600 pixels, which means even if the display is as big as 11.5 inches diagonally, which is almost 2 inches more than iPad 2, Nexus 10 tablet will still be able to offer same DPI as compared to iPad 2. Anything smaller than 11.5 inches means a better DPI than iPad 2. If the display is 11 inches, the DPI will be 274. But the source says, DPI will be around 300 which means the device is going to have a 10 inch display with 302 DPI.

Whats more, The tablet is going to come with three storage versions, 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB and again with no microSD slot or no expandable memory slot. But then those are the variations of iPad 2 as well. This is a great improvement over the 8GB of Nexus 7 as well.
Also the tablet is finally going to have 3G so we don’t have to depend only on Wi-Fi alone. These improvements, if the speculations are proven to be correct later, will certainly bring competition to iPad 2 in a serious way.
Price is unknown of course as of now but expect a higher price than the $199 you paid for Nexus 7. Safest guess is that the prices will be in the range of iPad 2 versions. Lets wait for that.
On a sidenote, this is going to kill Microsoft’s own Windows 8 based Hybrid tablets as the leaked price info of those hybrids are going to be much higher.
