The ‘unfollow bug’ hits Twitter

April 2, 2012

Twitter, the micro-blogging website has been hit by a bug. The “unfollow bug” is causing the tweeters to randomly unfollow fellow users without the knowledge and consent of the account holder.

The company has acknowledged the fault and in an official statement has said that their “team is working to fix it.”

The company has advised affected people to visit Twitter’s support page and go to fellow tweeters’ profile pages to confirm whether they still exist in their followers’ list or not.

Tweeters across the globe have been tweeting about their experiences with the unfollow bug and voicing their feedback about it.

“I wonder how many businesses, personal, and casual relationships are strained by the bug haphazardly unfollowing. It causes us to give pause and question the stability of the Twitter infrastructure, usage of my personal data and social network, and what important messages I may have missed from my trusted Twitter network,” The Telegraph quoted Labour MP and fanatic tweeter, Tom Watso, as saying.
